The key to feeling and looking your best might just be communication — but not the kind that involves the Internet or your cell phone! “Our bodies have thousands of chemical reactions happening all the time,” says Dr. Paveena Posang, of Posang Nature. “Our cells communicate, telling one another how to act. When this communication is disrupted, and cell pathways are disturbed, the results are disease, accelerated aging, and a number of other undesirable symptoms, like fatigue and weight gain.” At Posang Nature, ensuring proper communication of the cells is the foundation of Dr. Posang’s work. A board-certified family physician with ongoing specialized training in antiaging medicine, she encourages her patients to be aware of the internal functioning of their bodies. “We are what we eat,” she says. “But we are also what we consume in other ways — from the toxins in the water we drink, to the chemicals our skin absorbs.” Dr. Posang encourages women, particularly, to pay attention to what they are putting on their skin. “Many creams and lotions today are full of chemicals, and these chemicals can cause hormonal imbalances.” This does not mean, however, that there are no good options in skincare. She recommends a line of products called Glimpse, which are chemical-free and made from botanicals.
